Jaguars can be found in southwestern US down into most of South America. The black jaguar featured in this design isn't a different species of the jaguar, but a genetically mutated version of a normal jaguar. Almost the opposite of albinism, melanism causes the skin and fur of an animal to be darker than they would usually be. A shrinking habitat and illegal trade are two threats these magnificent big cats face. They need us to advocate for them to give them a fighting chance at persevering.
